I never really appreciated trains.  They were always exciting to watch.  Years ago I often took the train to prep school in Pennington, New Jersey, but the inside of the train was always musty, and old.

More recently we spent a few months in Middletown, New York, and took the train into New York on weekends.  Malka’s son lives there and it was often fun ro ride into Grande Central Station.

After photographing this black and white project of Train Benson I appreciate them so much more now since the views in these photographs followed a suggestion by one of the most famous photographers of all times:  Robert Cappa who said “To make more of an impact on the pictoral image, get closer!”
